CASA FREER - a Sneak Peek

One of the things that made us fall in love with this old house was this amazing Virginia creeper #parthenocissusquinquefolia, it covers the entire side faΓ§ade, it is quite a sight when you arrive in the house! Also Quite hard to control but I’d say it’s worth the hassle. We’re now getting new shutters and painting them in a light Olive grey-greeny tone, we couldn’t keep the original ones since they were far too rotten… they must have been over 20 years old. Now we’re designing sitting areas in all sides of the house, for enjoying at different times of day but mainly for escaping from the heat! Here we have placed one of many teak benches that I love so much- cushion to come soon- I like to flank them with these pots, locally made in terracotta in a very old fashioned shape, my favourites I really dislike modern pots unless it’s something quite wow that is.I love these so muchπŸ’šwe have ordered about 25 giant ones that will be filled with cascading plants ( soon one day ;)) check out the little house for gas bottles that is still missing a shutter, so much to do! We couldn’t be more happy though! for this house has so much history and a spectacular light flooding in through every windowπŸ˜ƒ some important points to consider when you’re buying a property, location, orientation, access, ceiling heights, all these points and many more are important, after 25 years buying property, selling property, building and renovating non stop in Mallorca, we have a bit of experience in this department ;)

Creating ambiences.. a favourite breakfast corner in #Casafreer is made up of a very large round coffee table and a mix of armchairs, rocking chairs and also some stools we have on the side, always at hand, because you never know how many people will turn up for breakfast, do you!? So yes, a mixture of chairs is always handy. The rocking chairs are actually most guests favourites, including my dad, I bought them off a neighbour who was emptying his house! they are pretty, light and can be turned around easily to watch the sun set. They can be used inside and outside, I love them. The big armchairs sit 2 people and a bunch of cushions, they may be square but they are very comfortable. I like to keep the rooms evolving and I find myself moving furniture around Very Often, possibly every week! There is no formula, you just have to turn the whole thing around as often as you like! Or even let the guests do it, sometimes they surprise you!
