LIGHTING SELECTION

Good lighting is an essential ingredient when designing a home. It can completely transform a space and elevate the design to another level. Light is a powerful thing.

The right type of light can be highly motivating and inspire incredible productivity.  Being able to adjust the lighting at any time of the day is a key feature. It’s something we consider in the early stages of the design process since lighting sets the mood of a space.

Every room should have a blend of lighting – or layering- which includes overhead, accent and task lights. This enables a room to be used in different ways, adapting to the needs of those within it.

Overhead lights are often the first feature you notice when entering a room. A beautiful chandelier or a series of pendants over a table can provide a focal point. On the other hand, table lamps, floor lamps and sconces achieve that mood lighting which makes a space feel warm and cosy.

LEDs are good for opening up dark corridors and bathrooms and illuminate the inside of closets and book cases.

Picture lights can add a decorative and atmospheric touch to a room. Combining the optimal blend of lighting poses a challenge, but done correctly, it can make a world of difference. See some examples below of some of our favourite lights these are by Lucy Vaughan who has been creating the most beautiful lighting for many years now and we like to work with, we also work with many many more companies producers of beautiful, original and extremely high quality product.

This  large lantern is distinctive by the elongated bell-shaped glass, suspended from the brass band on griffin-inspired hooks. The band’s intricate Greek key pattern is relief pressed.Ideal for Hallways and corridors is a forever classic in a beautiful home.

 Down Light

This wall light is one of our favourites,  defined by its clean, architectural lines. The square arm complements the suspended rectangular backplate, which hangs lower than the lampshade. It comes in other finishes aswell.

Floor Lamp

Inspired by 20th century artist Giacometti, Vaughan adapted a sculpture to create this design. The textured relief on the stem and the diamond shaped detailing near the top, give the floor lamp its striking look. One of our favourites!
