COUNTRY LIVING

This five-bedroom country home was built from scratch in an attractive almond grove on the outskirts of Santa Maria del Camí. The authentic Mallorcan town is very accessible being located just twenty minutes from Palma.

To maximise a sense of privacy, the house was constructed in the centre of the plot. This position takes advantage of the presence of carob trees which offer welcome shade in the heat of the summer.

The North Facade is traditional in appearance. This look is achieved through a number of means, including the introduction of small windows, window frames in sandstone and the use of coloured cement which imitates typical Mallorcan render. The dry stone wall surrounding the house adds a note of rural charm, while also protecting the garden from wind.

Staying faithful to the same natural tones brings unity with the contrasting South Facade. The installation of five French windows per floor brings light flooding into the living spaces and allows the home dweller to savour the beautiful views.

The spacious property is flanked by two stone extensions: a kitchen porch with a double arched patio, and another porch belonging to one of the guest rooms. En-suite bathrooms, internal patios, a garage, basement and guest house were all taken in consideration in the design of this project. The result is a home which is not only uplifting and mindful of its environment, but which also caters to the demands of a busy family life.
